M. Butterfly

Cara was on stage at The Jewish Ensemble Theatre’s (JET) production of “M. Butterfly”  May 5 – May 27, 2012.  Playing the roles of Renee, Woman at Party, and Girl in Magazine, Cara was extremely excited to be in this beautiful play with such a stellar cast!

M. Butterfly is a 1988 play by David Henry Hwang loosely based on the relationship between French diplomat Bernard Boursicot and Shi Pei Pu, a male Peking opera singer.

Constructed as a series of flashbacks – the narrative is being refracted through both overt and disguised burlesque deconstructions of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.

This Drama Desk “Best Play” winner and Pulitzer Prize nominee that originally starred John Lithgow and B.D. Wong is exceptionally startling because of its truth.

Please be advised: This play contains adult language and themes along with brief nudity.
